Description

"Incarnated Nature / Al Sarat” collection by Shadia Alem.

Since early childhood I was influenced by the nature of the West coast of our Arabian Peninsula, the slopes of Al-Sorat mountains were my playground, where my father used to take us camping. I felt the nature there possessing people. nature flowered on men’s head and creep on women’s bodies and clothes. The wild rocks, plants and animals or birds were abstracted primitively and placed on their households and clothes, the midnight blue indigo dye that women used for their clothes imbued my vision and my paintings. I invested all that abstracted brute symbols in creating my own nature

The hundreds of Al-Sarat tableaux I did were not enough to bring this possession to view, therefore, to capture more volume I found those sculptures materializing, of papers and clothes. I call them the human-nature, or the nature-humanized …
